2024 NVBC Dogs of the Year Awards

NVBC ANGEL AWARD, DOGS OF THE YEAR, PRESIDENT’S CUPS, & NEW TITLES - 2024 

Angel Award

Named after founding member Fred Angel, this award is presented to a NVBC member, exclusive of members of the Board of Directors, who is involved in Club activities and contributes time for the betterment of the club. The award is an engraved pewter cup. 

This year's recipient is Art Cohen in recognition of his many years assisting in the field trials.

Dogs of the Year

Based on their competive performance records, NVBC recognizes “Dogs of the Year” in many areas. No dog can win this award more than two years in a row. Photographs of the winning dogs will be included in the annual club advertisement in the American Brittany Magazine.

 President's Cup

NVBC awards engraved, pewter President’s Cups to members in good standing whose dogs earned Championship and/or Master Hunter titles in the past year and offers engraving of additional Championship-level titles on previously awarded cups when provided.  The award period runs from November 1 to October 31.

One dog will receive a new President's Cup
 - GCH CH Stonewalli Misty Mourjtain Maggie BN RA SWN 5lA SEA CGC - Maggie owned by Kathryn and Barry Kogut. The Koguts are new NVBC members.

New Titles Recognition Program

NVBC members and their dogs earned 106 new AKC titles for 2023! All will be published in the annual NVBC Dogs of the Year advertisement in The American Brittany magazine. A copy of that advertisement will be linked here when available.

NVBC New Titles October 31, 2023 – November 1, 2024

Five dogs earned advanced Championship level or Master Hunter titles:

- AGCH MACH1O PACH Just Another Brit in the Wall - Pink owned by Jan Brunner earned AGCH, MACH9 MACHS, and PACH.

- CH K Star Sparkle De Teddy B-Best - Teddy owned by Kathy Shannon earned MH.

- MACHS PACH4 Keili N Ginjac Just A Little Too Hot - Cayenne owned by Jan Brunner earned PACH4.

- GCH CH AGCH MACH1TBACH Keili's Goldstar Kir Royale - Kir owned by Sue Drazek earned MACH16 and MACH17

-  GCH CH MACH RACH Keili's Mvstique - Tiki owned by Sue Drazek earned GCH and MACH.

OF NOTE FOR 2024:

Only seven members submitted documentation on new AKC titles this year for 12 dogs, but these 12 earned a total of 124 new AKC titles.

  • Once again Agility titles outnumber all others with 68.
  • The number of Scent Work titles increased from 18 last year to 27.
  • There were also 12 Rally titles.
  • Two each in Conformation, Hunt Tests, and Obedience.
  • One Advanced Canine Good Citizen.

SOME HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2024:

  • Sue Drazek's Kir deserves special recognition. She is retired from agility this year. With her MACH 17 title she has the highest number of Master Agility Champion (MACH) titles for ALL Brittanys, three more than the previous record holder.
  • Jan Brunner's Pink is picking up where Cayenne left off. Last year Cayenne earned 35 titles; this year Pink did the same.
